Acupuncture & Pregnancy — Gentle, Supportive Care for You and Your Baby in Brighton & Hove
Welcome
Pregnancy is a beautiful, transformative time — but it can also bring discomforts, worries and the desire for gentle support. At [Your Clinic Name], based in Brighton & Hove, we offer specialist acupuncture care designed specifically for expectant mothers. Whether you’re seeking relief from morning sickness, a breech baby, back pain, or simply want to prepare for birth and beyond, our experienced acupuncturist provides calm, expert care for every trimester and the postnatal period.
How acupuncture supports you through pregnancy
Acupuncture is a safe, natural therapy that can support your body in pregnancy by:
-
Reducing nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy
-
Easing back pain, pelvic pain or sciatica as your body changes
-
Helping with insomnia, anxiety or emotional shifts
-
Supporting optimal baby positioning (including breech)
-
Preparing your body for labour: helping ripen the cervix, encouraging progress, calming the nervous system
-
Assisting postnatally with recovery, fatigue, emotional regulation and balancing hormones
This approach is backed by research in maternity care-oriented acupuncture and acupressure (for example, through specialist work by Dr Debra Betts) which shows benefits in labour outcomes and comfort in pregnancy.

Safety & Specialist Care
Your safety and comfort are my top priority. Here’s how I ensure that:
-
I am trained and experienced in acupuncture specifically for pregnancy and postnatal care.
-
Treatment is tailored to your stage of pregnancy, health history, and any specific concerns.
-
Only pregnancy-appropriate points and techniques are used, with established safety practices.
-
I provide a relaxed, supportive environment to help you feel comfortable and confident.
What to expect in your pregnancy acupuncture session
At your first visit:
We’ll explore your pregnancy journey so far, any symptoms or concerns you have (e.g., nausea, pelvic pain, breech).
We’ll discuss what you’d like from the treatment (comfort, preparation for labour, positioning).
You’ll lie comfortably (on your side, semi-reclined or as fits your trimester) while fine, sterile needles are placed.
The environment remains calm, warm and quiet. You may feel deeply relaxed, drifting off or simply resting.
Typical session length: 45–60 minutes (including consultation).
Aftercare: advice on self-care between sessions (e.g., gentle movement, rest, hydration).

What My Patients Say
I started seeing Jo when I was struggling with morning sickness and feeling completely exhausted in my first trimester. From the moment I walked into her clinic, I felt safe and cared for. Her treatments were gentle but powerful — not only did my nausea ease, but I began to feel more balanced and confident in my body again. As my pregnancy progressed, Jo helped with back pain, sleep and finally prepared me for labour. Every session left me calmer and more connected to my baby. I can’t recommend her highly enough
