Hello I'm Jo Darling
Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner
I’m an experienced Acupuncturist, passionate about helping you live a healthier, happier life. I love what I do at my Brighton & Hove acupuncture practice and have specialist interests in using acupuncture to assist fertility, to support cancer patients and pregnancy niggles as well as acupuncture to help women through menopause and for pain relief
I practice from my home Preston Park acupuncture clinic and Hove acupuncture clinic offering personalised, professional care, using acupuncture, moxa, cupping and electro-acupuncture where appropriate. I have also practiced Reflexology since 2006 and offer combined ‘Acureflex’ treatments – a wonderful combination of the wisdom of acupuncture and the soothing touch of reflexology.
Although I specialise in fertility, cancer, menopause & pain relief support and women's health, I can effectively use acupuncture to help you with a wide range of health issues, from hayfever and arthritis, to excema and sleep problems. About Jo’s Training
Jo completed a 3 year degree in Acupuncture and is trained in Five Elements, Traditional Chinese Medicine style acupuncture and Stems and Branches. Her training has enabled Jo to understand health issues from both a Western and Chinese medicine perspective and successfully treat accordingly.

She continues to extend her skills undertaking post graduate in areas such as Menopause, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Gynaecology, Infertility, IVF, Cancer Support, Sports Injury, Cosmetic Acupuncture and Skin conditions.

She is a full member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and is bound by their code of practice. This means that you can be assured that she adheres to strict professional standards of conduct and hygiene.

Additional Training

Jo has undertaken a number of post graduate courses to widen and consolidate her knowledge and learn new effective techniques. These include;

Cancer Support

Jo gained a post graduate qualification in Treating Patients with Cancer from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (NY). She has also attended training with Beverley De Valois, the UK’s leading research acupuncturist in the field of cancer care.

She works with the oncology team at The Montefiore Hospital in Hove, supporting patients undergoing cancer treatment and has previously volunteered at the Macmillan Horizon Centre in Brighton and Future Dreams Charity, London.

Gynaecology & Fertility

Taught by the UK’s leading fertility acupuncturists, Jill Glover and Jani White. Jo’s treatment has an emphasis on how to treat fertility with acupuncture and working alongside western medics to improve IVF, ICSI and IUI rates. Jo’s research into the positive effects of acupuncture on success rates of IVF has been published in the Journal of Chinese Medicine.

Pregnancy & Induction

Trained by world leading acupuncturist and midwife Debra Betts, course includes turning breech babies, pregnancy nausea, muscular skeletal treatments in pregnancy and natural induction.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Completed a 3 year diploma studying at the Institute of Chinese Medicine in London. Jo is able to prescribe herbal remedies to support her acupuncture patient’s treatment.

Sports Medicine and Acupuncture

Trained by the UK’s leading acupuncturist and physiotherapist Kevin Young. Particular emphasis on techniques to improve recovery times and reduce pain for conditions such as Tennis Elbow, Plantar Fascitis and chronic Lower Back pain.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Qualification to carry out non invasive facelifts using acupuncture and gua sha to improve the appearance of fine lines and lift the eyebrows. Treatment of skin conditions including acne, psoriasis and weight loss assistance.

Cupping

A highly effective and speedy Chinese Medicine massage. Using glass jars, with a vacuum inside, the cups are placed on the skin and used to remove pain and relax muscles fast. The technique can be incorporated within an acupuncture session.

Electroacupuncture (EA)

Jo is trained to use electro acupuncture, hooking up a tens machine to specific points to enhance the therapeutic effect. Electroacupuncture increases stimulation of the needle to improve treatment outcome especially for back and shoulder pain. Jo does not use EA on first treatments and only with patient consent.

Aromatherapy with Acupressure (AcuOil TM)

Jo is trained to use essential oils in combination with acupressure points and advises patients in person and remotely on how to use AcuOil to support their health.

Reflexology & Hot Stones

She is also an experienced Reflexologist having completed her ITEC training over 10 years ago. She specialises in treating fertility and pregnancy and holds a diploma in pre-conceptual, pregnancy and post natal reflexology.

What People Say
Jo first started treating me through my cancer treatment, supporting me with fatigue, dropping immunity and sleep problems. When the hot flushes started I knew where to turn. Jo introduced me to the Menopoised Menopause Magnet to help me with my hot flushes and night sweats. It worked, heat is much more manageable and I can get back on with life.”
Jo, West Sussex

“I found Jo when I started IVF and acupuncture was recommended. It was a daunting time but right from our first contact, where Jo moved things around to see me, I knew I was in good hands. As an older patient, the success rates were slim, however Jo provided confidence, care, balance and stability during a sometimes difficult and emotional journey. She inspired me to hand myself over to her and her practise, which eventually resulted in a positive pregnancy. I continued with acupuncture throughout the pregnancy and found it immensely nurturing and effective, especially in the first 12 weeks and the latter 4. When plans of a home birth were replaced with a stay in the hospital, I called upon Jo and her magic needles. With a western medicine clock ticking in the background, Jo’s session miraculously induced labour and within 24 hours I gave birth naturally to a beautiful baby girl. That’s my personal experience and I encourage anyone searching for support with fertility treatment to also hand themselves over to the talented, caring and brilliant Jo Hull. Forever indebted”
Amanda, Hove

“My pregnancy nausea was unbearable through the early part of my pregnancy, regular acupuncture with Jo really helped me feel human again. I continued to have treatment regularly though my pregnancy, I even used it to began to preparation for birthing”
Anna, Hove
