Who we are

This website, acupunctureinbrighton.com, is run by Jo Darling, an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner in Brighton & Hove. In this policy, “Jo”, “I” and “my” mean Jo Darling, who is responsible for your personal information (the “data controller”).

What information I collect

I only collect what you choose to give me through this website:

Contact and enquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and the message you write.

Newsletter sign-ups: your name and email address, if you join my email list.

Booking (existing clients only): the details you enter on the booking page at [booking provider].

Please don’t put sensitive health details in a website form or email unless you need to. If I treat you, health information is collected during your appointment and kept in your clinic records, which are covered separately.

How I use it

To reply to your enquiry or message

To arrange and manage appointments for existing clients

To send you my newsletter, but only if you’ve asked for it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email

I don’t sell your information, and I don’t use it to make automated decisions about you.

Legal basis

Under UK data protection law, I use your information because:

you’ve asked me to reply to you or to do something for you (contract or taking steps at your request)

you’ve given your consent (newsletters and optional cookies)

I have a legitimate interest in running my practice and keeping my website secure

Who I share it with

I use a small number of trusted services to run this website and my emails. They only process information on my behalf:

GoHighLevel (HighLevel Inc.), which hosts this website and handles forms, enquiries and email

Cloudflare, which provides website security, DNS and email forwarding

[Booking provider], for existing clients’ appointments

Google Search Console, which gives me anonymous information about how the site appears in search results

Some of these companies are based outside the UK, including in the USA. They use recognised safeguards to protect personal information, such as the UK’s approved data transfer arrangements.

I don’t share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long I keep it

Enquiries: I keep these for up to [12 months] after our last contact, then delete them.

Newsletter details: I keep these until you unsubscribe.

Client treatment records: I keep these for the period professional guidance requires, which is normally up to [8 years] after your last appointment (for adults). This is covered in my clinic paperwork, not this website.

If I change how I use your information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
