Other Conditions I Treat
Although I specialise in women’s health, fertility, menopause and cancer support, acupuncture can support a wide range of health issues. Every treatment is tailored to you, and I often treat several concerns at the same time.
Please note: I’m not currently taking on new patients. If you’ve been referred to me, please email [email protected].
Anxiety, Stress and Low Mood
Chronic stress affects both mind and body. Acupuncture works on the nervous system and may help calm the “fight or flight” response, so you feel more settled and better able to cope. I see people for anxiety and panic, low mood, stress and burnout, and seasonal low mood. Acupuncture can be used safely alongside medication or talking therapies.
Sleep Problems
Whether it’s trouble getting to sleep, waking in the night or waking too early, poor sleep affects everything. Research suggests acupuncture may help by promoting relaxation and calming an overactive mind, and it can be combined with conventional treatment.
“I hadn’t slept properly for over a year and after just one treatment with Jo I have been sleeping soundly. I was sceptical of what acupuncture could do for me and delighted with the result.” – Daphne, Brighton
Migraines and Headaches
Migraines can be debilitating and the medication isn’t always easy to tolerate. Research suggests acupuncture may help reduce how often migraines occur, and NICE recognises acupuncture as a treatment option for chronic tension-type headache and migraine.
Pain Relief: Back, Neck, Shoulder and Sciatica
Acupuncture is widely used for musculoskeletal pain. It’s thought to stimulate the body’s natural pain-relieving chemicals, reduce inflammation and ease muscle tension. I treat back, neck and shoulder pain, and sciatica, where pain, numbness or tingling runs from the lower back down the leg.
Nerve Pain
Nerve pain, such as trigeminal neuralgia or neuropathy after chemotherapy, can be hard to treat with medication alone. Research suggests acupuncture may help relieve neuropathic pain with few side effects. Where appropriate, and only with your consent, I may use gentle electro-acupuncture.
Skin Conditions
Acupuncture may help with common skin conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and hives. It’s believed to work by reducing inflammation and supporting circulation to the skin.
“I have suffered with a rare and stubborn skin condition on my face and body that was exacerbated by monthly hormones and later pregnancy. Jo really helped improve the condition giving me back my self esteem and comfort!” – Helen, Brighton
Hay Fever and Allergies
Acupuncture may help ease hay fever symptoms such as a blocked or runny nose, sneezing and itchy eyes. Starting treatment before the pollen season is often helpful.
Cystitis
For women who get cystitis again and again, research suggests acupuncture may help reduce how often it comes back, alongside the care you receive from your GP.
Pregnancy Support
Pregnancy can bring its share of niggles. I’ve supported hundreds of women through pregnancy, helping with nausea, back and pelvic pain, sleep and anxiety, as well as breech presentation (moxa from around 34 weeks) and labour preparation from 36 weeks.
“Jo’s calm energy and gentle approach made such a difference – it became the one hour a week where I could truly relax.” – Charlotte, Brighton
Acureflex
I’ve practised reflexology since 2006 and offer combined “Acureflex” treatments, which bring together the benefits of acupuncture and the soothing touch of reflexology.
I’m a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) with a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture and over 15 years’ clinical experience.

Move with the seasons. Breathe with nature. Feel more like yourself.
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice that brings harmony to body and mind through gentle, flowing movement. It helps restore the natural rhythm between rest and activity, strength and softness.
Sometimes what you need isn’t another treatment. It’s time away, good company and the chance to feel properly cared for, in a place that restores you.
